Junior Transport Planner

Location: Sheffield

Salary: DOE (Dependent on Experience)

Taylor Stevenson is working with a well-established client in Sheffield to recruit an organised and proactive Junior Transport Planner to join their busy operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in transport and logistics planning. The role will involve supporting the planning team with daily transport operations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed efficiently, on time, and in line with customer and company expectations, while developing core planning skills.


Key Responsibilities

• Support in planning and routing vehicles to maximise efficiency and productivity
• Monitor driver activity and vehicle movements throughout the day
• Communicate with drivers, customers, and warehouse teams to support smooth operations
• Assist in managing and resolving transport delays and operational issues
• Learn and apply transport compliance rules and company procedures
• Maintain accurate records, system updates, and transport documentation
• Support vehicle availability tracking and maintenance scheduling
• Ensure PODs and delivery paperwork are accurately completed and recorded


Requirements

• Previous exposure to transport or logistics sector is essential
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Good geographical knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office and willingness to learn transport systems (TMS/POD/tracking)
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Flexible approach to working hours when required


Working Hours

Monday to Friday, standard hours 08:30 – 16:30, with flexibility available where required:
• 08:00 – 16:00
• 09:00 – 17:00


Holiday Entitlement

• 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
